I have color matched ones and love them. My wife always opens the door into things. It's saved me quite a few dings.

Yup, it's not other cars, it the crap in the garage that she hits.

The clear tape doesn't protect your from dents. If you get one's that are color matched to your door, you won't really see them either. It's all up to taste. Personally I don't mind conservative door guards or body moulding. I hate dents a lot more.

They are molded to the shape of your door. You have to trim back the door sealant on the inside of the door. The molding snaps onto the door, there is no adhesive. The tool to trim the sealant comes with the kit. If you use it wrong, it can hack up the sealant making it jagged. If you have DIY skills, you should be good. Just be patient when doing it. I was happy with my results.
