Wow that stinks. I was opening the door to my old car in Lowes parking lot and the whole handle broke off in my hand. I had to go through the passenger side to get in.

After talking to a body shop. They are seeing more & more of it. Not so much on Euro & American cars & trucks but on Toyota,s & Nissan,s . He did say he sees all of them not holding up to the test of time cuz the water base paint is junk on door handles . They want ((400$)) to R&R the 4 doors with enamel :(

You could buy new, factory painted ones for less than $400. I think TRDparts4u had them cheapest last I checked.

Doesn't really help you but I'm kind of glad I got the non-painted ones now. Hope you can get it taken care of relatively cheap.

The water based paints are not holding up well in many applications. Better for the workers and environment, but fails easily.

They now use a water based system on helicopter rotor blades, most common maintenance item is keeping paint on them.

The color matched side mirrors on our Scion have done the same thing but to a greater degree Jim. Looks like ass but with 105K miles it's to be expected I guess.

This environment shit is getting old.. I want a paint job that last 50 years.. Everything that we are told is good for us turns out to be anything but.

Going to get the drivers side 2 painted and put 3m clear guard on the inside of all 4 handles when the paint cures.:(

Well, I came back with a solution! Fine a local shop that does signs and stickers. Get some 3m color matched, and wrap the door handle

Well, I'd probably go down to the junk yard and pick up two. Then get them painted and swap out the fronts myself then do the same to the rear. You could always sell the extra set you get on Ebay.
