Door lock actuator not working after aftermarket keyless entry install

    Hey all,

I imagine this is a basic electrical question rather than a tacoma specific one, but I'm curious to know if anyone else has similar experience or suggestions.

I installed this cheap aftermarket keyless entry module in my 1995 Xtra cab with OEM power door actuators on the interior. Followed these instructions (https://youtu.be/tCApTmkOzK8?si=6tMFnGXC2aFXbg6T), however my stock electrical configuration for the door actuators was a bit different than his. Namely, my actuator wires for locking/unlocking are red and white not gray and purple. After install, the keyless entry works like a charm, even wired it up to my lights so they flash when I trigger the remote .

Problem now is the interior door actuator switches now don't work. I disconnected the aftermarket kit and the interior door actuators worked again.

Is this just because I put an open lower resistance path in the stock circuit? Is there any fix for this?

If it's not abundantly clear by now, I have very little experience with electrical work so I appreciate all the help I can get.

    TIA

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
I would really need to look at the schematics close. This is thinking out loud.

being unable to use the the power lock inside switches just might be a safety factor for your keyless entry.

Will your remote lock your doors with the truck running and you inside.

Can you lock your doors with the switch while leaving the truck.

It would take my poor internet 30 minutes to down load the you tube file most likely aborting before finished.

    Thanks Bivy!

Tested this- yes, the keyless entry fob works whether the truck is running or not.

no, I cannot lock the doors with the switch while leaving the truck.

Here's the full wiring diagram if it's of any use. I configured it according to Figure D.

I have no ide what positive trigger means?
But the control signal is a ground signal.

Thanks, I'll see what I can do from here to diagnose the problem.

Did you add the extra wiring to your Master switch on the left door panel. You say you did but you have it backwards I think.

That seems to be the reason your Master switch no longer works. But are doors use a switched ground .

Meaning the ground circuit is opened and closed to control your door locks.

As the circuit is it will not work because the ground for the actuator is not being completed

    Best of Luck.

95-00 is different than 01-04. In 2001 Toyota introduced a "Body ECU" that replaced the "Integration Relay" from 2000 and earlier.
I have attached the wiring diagram for 1999, but it SHOULD be the same as 95.

    Red-White = Lock
    Red-Yellow = Unlock

As @Bivouac stated, your door switch either grounds the R-W or R-Y. This then tells the integration relay which wire to output 12v+ to the motor (L-W or L) while the other becomes ground.

Solid Red is your door courtesy switch, which activates your door courtesy lights (if equipped) and dome light.
Also notice Red-White is also used for the passenger door courtesy switch.

All of these wires go to the integration relay so you need to make sure you have the right ones.
