I dont even know how to phrase it in just a few words.
When I turn off the engine, open a door, lock the doors with the switch on the door by the window controls, then close the door........
after a certain time period the lock switch by the window controls no longer functions. Pushing it does not unlock the doors.

Does anyone know how long that time period is?
Also, does the switch become "dead" if I lock the doors with the remote instead of the switch?

I don't know the time period before it disables the button but many vehicles are like that by design for theft prevention, doesn't take much to wedge the top of the door open enough to slip a thin rod in and press the unlock button.

I've used that trick several times to get in vehicles at the shop when keys accidentally get locked in them.
