    @808takoama I’m looking to do this in my 2015 base model. Did you end up wiring the module in yourself? I’d love to hear more about the process

    Thanks for this information OP and all who was involved over the weeks and months prior to my comment, although I am not working on a tacoma but looking to update a Highlander to have "smart key" function for door unlock on approach, it was an interesting read.

    So, this makes perfect sense, but as I am sure is a task to depin the connector wiring from a parts truck, this would be the best way to go about doing this. Now that OP has verified its working we all now know that the feature in the Body ECU will allow you to add a Door Receiver to use a transmitter to lock/unlock doors. Just take the blue and yellow wires from Door receiver connector to B5 pin 5 and 6 at body ECU and give it constant 12v power (fused of course).

    I've read about others putting aftermarket systems in and tapping into all kinds of wiring to do the same thing. I prefer OEM over any of that, I think for longevity purposes its a wiser choice and worth the work to get complete if you're looking to keep your tacoma for awhile.
