Door "panel" catch/ latch broke (not the door the door panel)

mannik front guard, tail light guards, magnaflow exhust, roof rack. side steps, hood scoop, tint. fishing rod holders, side visor rain guards

the driver's side "door panel" catch (not the door, the catch on the door panel which holds the door closed) just fell off. found a broken piece when i removed the side panel between the front and back door. unable to reinstall. welded metal there. anyone had this problem? thinking of removing the duct tape and welding?? suggestions??
