Ok so I picked up a 2006 regular cab Saturday and I've been cleaning her up. Went to wipe down the door panels and on the passenger side as soon as i wiped the plastic peeled. Now its two toned and looks like crap. I know its almost 10 years old but still. Any ideas on a fix? A parted out panel is around 150. Maybe I can paint it?

As others have said, pics will help and what did you wipe it with?

Interior plastic, vinyl, and leather can all be successfully painted/dyed. Just go to a paint professionals web site for advice or better yet straight to the manufacturers. Take any advice offered here or other enthusiast forums with a grain of salt.

i Just wiped it with a damp cloth. Then it snagged on the tag and peeled like this. I stopped immediately.

Also can you take a look at this rust? When purchased I noticed it looked like surface rust. I've been wire brushing and would like to coat it. What coating do you recommend?

This is the worst rust on the frame. Was originally from NJ but must of been kept clean. or kept in a garage.

I was thinking fluid film. Should I use that rust spray paint they sell at auto zone first then fluid film?

I would wire wheel that rust, then prime and paint - then seal it. This coming from a guy who's just watching the rust form on his 2012 :notsure:

Any good primer and paint that tacoma world recommends? Id like to do it right the first time. The wire brush is some serious work. got to taste a lot of rust today lol.

Also was thinking of maybe plastic dipping a strip along side the upper black part so it covers the peeling but still looks symmetrical. Maybe tape off a straight line where the door panel caves in. Its a low contact area and my wife is my only passenger 90% of the time.

Eastwood Rust Encapsulator, POR15, etc. There are several products designed for frames that have started to rust like yours. Follow the manufacturers instructions to the letter.
