I think that the black cloth friction tape that they use on hockey sticks would work too, and probably a lot cheaper.
Just need to keep the paint from from rubbing on the weather stripping..

I think you're missing the mark. You're above and below the paint, so you're above and below the problem.
Go back one page and check my pics, I'de really like to know if it works for you..

You’re definitely right, that muted the rattle but the strips have since compressed or been pushed out of the way so I orderd some tailgate seal to give that a shot :fingerscrossed:

Did you buy the seal from a Toyota Dealership & if so, do you have a Part Number for the Tailgate Seal by any chance?

I just got mine on last week but so long as the adhesive doesn’t wear out it should be a permanent fix since it completely covers the contact point on the door that causes the rattle against the door frame.

I can take a pic later but mine looks just like TommyG’s.

I have a question about the outer window "seals". Every single vehicle I've owned before this, there is contact between that seal and the window, so if there is moisture on the outside of the window, roll down/roll up, moisture gone. Now this truck, there is obviously a gap there as the seal does not wipe away any moisture. Is this normal or have my seals shrunk and I need new ones? If so, any part numbers or place to get those?

I’ve gone through a couple car washes now and the thickened seal is definitely letting a small amount of water in. I’ll wait to see if it’s a problem during spring/summer rainstorms.

In my humble opinion you guys that are adding the thicker weather stripping are missing the mark, or making it worse by widening the gap.
The squeaking is the paint on the door rubbing on the inside wether strip (or vice versa). Even if you used something as thin as cloth hockey tape it would stop the paint on rubber squeak.
I used the fuzzy side of a velcro strip and I haven't heard a peep ever since...and definitely no leaks.

If I need to I can post before and after pictures of what they look like when they're dirty and squeak it helped a lot and when they should be clean and don't squeak at all if it's the same thing you guys are talking about but yes taking any little bump speed bump driving up the driveway makes the doors Creek......

I'll chime in - I purchased some Sylglide from Napa for only $6. I cleaned the inner and outer seals with silicone spray beforehand (which wasn't enough), and cleaned off the B-Pillar (and C-Pillars) painted metal. Then applied dabs of Sylglide on the seals, then rubbed it in with blue shop towels. That stuff is thick.

The creaking and chattering and tapping, which mostly everyone calls squeaking, at my drivers side has gone away, and the same sounds seemed to have gone away at the passenger side. BUT, I can still hear traffic whizzing past me with the windows up, especially from our obnoxiously loud diesel exhaust friends and on days when the roads are wet (whizzing noise). The Sylglide has revealed a fundamental defect in the door seal upper corner (at your left ear) - there simply isn't enough contact between the seal and the B-Pillar when the door is closed. There is a nice horizontal and vertical trace of Sylglide on the metal (so there is a good seal), but at the corner, its a very very faint corner trace (marginal seal).

Sylglide is an ok Band-Aid fix. Some negatives of using Sylglide - 1. Your doors will have a sticky feeling and sound every time they are opened. 2. You cannot touch or bump into the door seals, otherwise the Sylglide will stick to you and your clothes. 3. The Sylglide will likely require cleaning and re-application since its sticky and will have dust and pollen and debris stick to it. I'm planning on just cleaning this stuff off once the weather improves, and using Maguire's Protectant or Back to Black on the seals.

So, a friend of mine had a tube of this stuff and said it worked for him. He doesn’t post but lurks like a mofo :D
    [IMG]
After applying it to the rubber door seals on my truck, the flexing/rubbing sound has gone completely. It’s only been a few days now so, I’ll report back after a month or so. One thing to keep in mind, “a little of this stuff goes a long way”. That and, if you don’t like grease stains on your clothing, avoid touching or accidentally brushing up against the areas where this product has been applied.

I have never experienced the squeaky door seals on my present Tacoma but I also have read enough threads to make me think cleaning and mantaning them is a good thing. I have tried silicone and didn’t really like it cause it leaves a film that attracts dirt. Aerospace 303 works perfect, it keeps the rubber pliable and easy to apply plus you can use it on many other areas. When I wash the truck I am now in the habit of wiping down all door seals with a damp rag. You wouldn’t believe all the grime that shows up. I’m sure that same grime is drying out the door seals and causing squeaking.
