Hey guys and gals! I had a friend install back speakers in my dbl cab today and found out that when he shut one of the back doors he apparently didn't hookup either the door handle or lock. So, what I have now is a back door that is completely together that is stuck shut. Does anyone have any advice on the easiest way to get it open? Thanks!

Depends where the ends of the cables ended up but you might be able to pop the panel with the window switch off and get to them.

Id like to know why the door latch was disconnected to install speakers.

You have to remove the door panels in order to replace the speakers, most likely didn't securely fasten the door latch cable back in place when putting everything back together.

I replaced all four speakers a couple of times and always double check to securely fasten back.

Most likely reversed the cables coming from the lock actuator at the handle when he was putting the door panel back on, or it popped off the tab were it holds itself in place on the handle when you pull it. :pccoffee:

Same thing happened to me. Check out the post below for the solution. I did not seat the cable all the way in.

The green plastic has to be inserted like the white one is.

It happened to me. In order to work comfortably and install sound deadening material and replace the speaker it's best to set the whole door panel aside. When doing so if you don't pay attention to the cables it's easy to overlook that it's not latched or seated correctly.

Unfortunately I don't think there is a special service tool for 'whoopsy'. So a dealer might not be very helpful.

If outsourcing the correction, a place that specializes in electric window and door lock repair 'might' have a few tricks available.

Same thing happened to me on my 17... I undid the window switch panel and fished it out. It was because I did not swat one of the cables all the way. You only learn that lesson once.

RIP! I didn't securely lock in the door cable one time I took the doors off and it took me like 4-5 tries to open the door, luckily for me it did open just barely but I was sure glad it did. I'm hoping you can snag the cable if you pop off the window panel as other have suggested. Good luck.

Thought you could just pull the door handle farther out that normal travel... it will pull farther back if you pull hard on it it's not seated properly so pull farther.

Umm, the outside door handle should be working as it is not connected to those cables. I had them pop loose during door panel reinstall and was unable to open the door from the inside, but the outside handle worked fine.
