When the driver’s door is open half way, it will not stay open. Shouldn’t it have some kind of hold especially on a slight grade?

    What is the fix?

Sounds like your door check arm needs replacing.

Sorry, I didn't give much detail. The good news is most models only have 2 10mm nuts and 1 bolt, but the bad news is after those come off, the check assy must come out through the inside of the door. Usually by removing the door panel and speaker you can get it, but some vehicles the window frame and/or the door wire harness may be in the way.

I am not sure about that price on Amazon. I just linked it so you could see the picture.

I wasn't happy with the prices I found online, so I tried my luck with a used part off ebay - it was a bit better than my original but not worth the effort. If you plan on doing this, go new for sure.
