Drving with no doors is like having the top down. Its not necessary, but its cool.
A friend of mine has a lifted jeep, in the summer I love it when we cruise around without the doors.

I cant speak on the legal or safety aspect of taking the doors off a Tacoma but I cant imagine it would be either.
If its cool or not, thats just an opinion I suppose. I dig the open air. In the summer I only use the A/C if someone with me complains about the heat otherwise its all windows down and sunroof open.

I'd go doorless on my truck if I had the time to do the conversion. 2nd gen access cab presents an issue since the striker is part of the rear door, but anything is possible with some ingenuity.

Definitely post pics if you do the doorless thing. :)

Might want to reinforce around the door opening somehow.

If you drive with your doors off all summer, especially on sand where your body will flex, then your doors will never line up the same and/or shut properly.

    ^^^^^

Thats what I think I was told when your vehicle was on jack stands just on one corner under the frame, never slam a door, I have had one of my vehicle's supported this way and when the door was open and close to where it needed a push to shut it, it definately was out of alignment, from the door frame and stricker!

Visibility. Yanno, for when you're wheeling and driving over stuff.

    .

Wrangler doors aren't part of the structure of the vehicle....our doors are. Get tube doors. Adam @ 4xInnovations does excellent work and his prices are hard to beat.

I was talking to the OP.

And I've seen so many bummed out embarrassed faces from guys here who took their doors off vehicles that aren't supposed to have them off... only to have the doors never hang right again.

To each their own I suppose

i was agreeing with you, that's what the . was for :p

with tube doors, since the front of the cab (where it bolts) is attached to the rear of the cab (where it latches) im guessing cab flex is going to be minimal...there still might be some though, no idea.

*shrug* I think it'd be cool to cruise around without doors, especially down there. Warm weather, sunshine, girls, etc.

It'd get attention, and the salty air feels great in the lungs. I'd rock that setup in a heartbeat.

    Hey watch it, Pal

    :D

Unless there's a roll cage and/or other kind of fabrication/reinforcement, I wouldn't take the doors off a vehicle that isn't meant to.
