So I was washing my new (715 mi) ‘23 TRD Sport with key fob in my shorts. Baggy shorts so should have been no pressure on key fob buttons. While washing the door locks kept engaging and I assume locking or unlocking and locking again. After I was done I opened the doors then later I put the key fob on a table on a porch table 20 yds from the truck. I was no where near the key fob and the truck locks engaged and locked itself.

So question is, is there something electronic wrong or is something programmed somewhere in the tech package that needs changed? Or is it somehow that stupid Toyota app going mental?

    thanks

When the water rolls over the touch sensor it can mimic pressing it. Also there are setting you can change, it’s most likely locking because you have the proximity setting on so when you walk away and the truck is open it locks

Mine's a manual so no proximity sensor.

And I might be pulling this out of my ass, but I believe the truck is similar to my previous Nissan. If you unlock and don't open a door, it will automatically lock itself after some time.

Mine does this, locks itself after 30-60 seconds.

My taco with the keyless package had that issue when getting washed . Most others cars did it too

I found also found the fobs be too sensitive in my pocket. I bought a couple of silicone fob covers. They make the buttons a little more recessed if that makes sense. Totally has worked for me.

If u push the key fob a couple times “unlock “ it will automatically lock on its own. It’s a programmed feature . It happened to me .

My 2013 Highlander and my 2017 Tacoma both do this. I always thought it was a failsafe if you forgot to lock your car.

Normal when washing. The later lick was likely because it had been unlocked and because no door was opened in the timer setting it locked itself. Also normal.
