Anyone have a comment about Dorman blend door actuator. Mine is going south and I need to replace before cold weather arrives. Any comments, good or bad. Thanks to all.

Same here. We’ll both know at same time. I’m sure it will last a few years

Typically they (and most other parts store/aftermarket actuators) are junk but occasionally you get one that works for a while.

For sure most aftermarket parts are a gamble. But I’ve had good luck with some and can’t afford OEM. Fingers crossed

Dorman makes a lot of different aftermarket parts, and this one seems to have a fairly decent rep. Check the price of the OEM part too and compare. It might be within reach without breaking the bank.

Good to know it has a decent rep and Dorman does too. Cheapest OEM I could find was $175.00 compared to $50 for Dorman. Easy choice for me for fairly non-important part (I live in the Bay Area in ca - mild weather).

Those of us that work in a shop and have to deal with their junk would tend to disagree, some of their hard parts are good but most stuff they make with an electrical connector is junk.

I can't tell you how many of those aftermarket actuators I've had to warranty multiple times, not a huge deal if it's an easy one to replace but if it's a pain in the butt one or the dash has to come out it's getting OEM only but hey if it meets your needs and budget go for it, I'm just fed up with having to redo stuff constantly because of shit parts.

It sucks that it's like this but the majority of aftermarket parts and even alot of OEM parts now are just China garbage made with low quality materials and zero quality control.

I think these Dorman actuators are made in So Korea. That’s a notch above the Chinese junk

I have a hard time believing that there are multiple factories making such a specialized part, and I wouldn't be surprised if the Dorman part is the same thing you'd get from the Toyota dealership. Crack one open and you'll see there's not much going on inside -- an electric motor and some plastic gears.

For whatever it's worth, the part that usually goes bad on these is the little motor inside. GM part 25770692 uses the exact same little motor and you can get them for ~$20 on ebay.

You've got to open up both actuators to swap the motor over (the GM part casing is different) but it's a lot cheaper than buying a whole new part, especially when the only part that actually goes bad is usually the motor.

To further complicate things, I have seen 10-15 of these all Dorman with exact same part number 604-333 . About half say it fits my taco, and half says it won’t fit. Go figure.

I had reas this somewhere on this forum I think. That’s a great idea since I’ve cracked mine open already and it would a simple swap. Thanks for the tip
