Ditto this...I also had a F-350 diesel crew cab and when I first drove the Tacoma couldn't believe how small it seemed. It quickly became "normal" for me and my kids -- 8 & 12 -- have plenty of room. I could not be happier. And, for what it's worth, I think the Tacoma is twice the truck that Ford was. For me, the quality of this truck is hard to compare.

Works great! My Son is 12 now & was 7 when I bought my 05. Heck adults can sit in the back, so no issues with kids.

I had an 03 Tacoma dbl cab. When I was looking at getting the 05. My Son didn't want me to trade the 03; because of the wheels.

I told him, well lets go look at the 05. When he saw the 05 he said "Ok you can trade it". I'm glad he approved. LOL

My 4yr old daughter has lots of room in the back, although when in her car seat she can easily plant a foot on both the driver and passenger seat backs, then arch her back ... really let's you know she's pissed about something !

Right now I have to take her shoes off when she's in the truck so she doesn't dirty up the seats. Gotta order some seat covers.

She also like to look down into cars and tell me what the people inside are doing, can be kinda funny :D

I bought my DC with intentions of having kids sometime in the future. I figure, I want this truck to last AT LEAST 10 years. And I knew that I would have kids within those 10 years. Well, 3 years into it, and I probably won't have kids for another 4 years.

But, I do take PLENTY of road trips with the truck and I always have a bunch of friends with me. Packing 5 guys in that truck and going off for a road trip is something that I do a lot of.

works great the kids love it. There is even room for our dog between then. They do call it the taco and I love it! Especially my 5 yr old going around saying, black crayon, black socks, then pointing at my truck and saying black taco! AHAHAHA had me in stitches the first time she did that.

The reason I got a double cab was for the kid (soon to be kids). My son is now 7 and in the booster seat in the back. Plenty of room for him. Plus it's nice to be able to recline the front seats and move them forward and back. My previous trucks were all single cabs with bench seats so no real seat adjustments could be made. This is much more comfortable.

My kids, 4 and 7, love the truck. We've taken a few 6+ hour trips and they never complain about the room. Having a Leer cap helps a lot too.

I sold my access cab for a double cab - specifically because I had a kid. She is 2 1/2 and it works just fine. We have a Jeep Grand Cherokee and use the Tacoma for 8 hour trips down to the beach for the week. I know it will work well with 2 kids too.

It works great, even for average sized adults. Plenty of room. But it works even better with a set of these.

Exact same situation here. Bought it when my daughter was 7 and she's now 12. She prefers riding in the Taco than the Highlander. Says the back seat in mine is much more comfortable (and the Highlander has a ton of leg room in the back seat). Definitely gotta think long-term!
