Quick question, my wife is pregnant with twins and was wondering how tight the fit is in a double cab 01 tacoma. I really don't want to sell the truck but I also want to be safe. Anyone with pics or experience of car seats fitting behind the driver side?

Congrats to you and the wife!

When my son was born (he's 7 now), I had his seat in the middle of the back seat of the doublecab. Worked fine. Not sure about 2, 1 behind each seat might be a little tight, especially if you or the wife are tall.

When they grow out of that infant seat, really going to be difficult. Today's seats are much more bulkier than what they used to be. This is really a bad pic (not much for scale) but might give you an idea of a seat in the middle of the bench.

I have one on my passenger side. It’s tight but fits. Was an infant seat now replaced with one for a toddler.

Of course my 2001 lacks the anchor points of newer model vehicles but the seat seems secure enough.

My 2003 DCSB had LATCH, which makes it much easier to put in car seats. Don't have kids though, so unsure how fitment is.

How tall are you and how far back do you have the drivers seat? I think that if you're back more than halfway, it's going to feel cramped with kid seat(s).

FYI - you mentioned wanting to be safe... Unlike the Xtracab, there is no way to disable the front passenger airbag, so you should NOT put the kid seat there.

I am 6'2 so the seat is to the back rails. Ugh. I kinda thought this would happen. We would be fine with one but not 2 it seems.

C'mon buddy. Its a blessing :) Double the fun, right? One vehicle or two? If two, perhaps use the other as the primary kid transport so you can hold on to the taco.
