Also was looking around at some other sites and hearing i may have to either replace or swap ball joints for the control arms? And does it matter if its a 6 lug or 5 lug. if it does mines a 6 lug.

So far, all I've found is if you wanna drop a DC your best bet is to do a 5-lug frame swap. If you were to find a way to lower w/o frame swapping, your exhaust would have to be chopped up some, best thing would be to dump at axle. Me and some other guys on here believe that the furthest down a 4x4 could go is ~2.5" and not suffer CV bindings ( kind of like lifting a truck yet inverted). You might be able to do a Spring under axle in the rear or remove leafs for the rear setup. For the front, you could get shorter coils.
Feel free to read through these links, might be of some help:

Go over to customtacos.com and search. There is a lot more info on lowering over there than here.

I wouldn't frame swap it.if anything just replace the front half of the frame from a 2wd base Tacoma.
