I'm always learning something on here.

My short bed Taco is/was a work truck (when I'm employed...) and hauls everything I need it to (scaffolds and hand tools mostly) but I do wish my OR was a long bed sometimes but then I wouldn't be able to fit it in my garage.
    ^Like my run-on sentence?:D^

I've been considering a shallow one so I may be able to slide my scaffolds underneath but as of yet, no, I don't have one.

If it came down to having a DC/SB or an AC/LB I would rather have a DC. I love my double cab but would enjoy having a longer bed.

Unless you know you need the long bed, the short bed is fine.
I also think it looks better.

It's fine for my uses, but I don't do a ton of hauling.

If I did, I'd've gotten a full size.

What I have had to move that didn't fit in the closed bed was either fine properly tied down or taken care of by the bed extender.

I've got a DC Short Bed Sport with a toolbox...it cuts room, but I've got about 6-7 inches below the box, so I can still haul 2x4's and stuff without it sticking too far out. I really like having the extra lockable space of the toolbox.

I use the four door cab more than the bed and I am not interested in a toolbox. I thought of the options for two months before buying, so I knew exactly what would work best for me.

    Build thread in sig...
i have a roll up hard tenneau cover. it rolls itsself up into to container that sits right where a tool box sits. all said and done, it takes up about the same space. yeah, it makes the bed feel a little too small at times, but you will get use to it. even with the missing foor, i've hauled a motorcycle, pinc pong table, many couches, an 8 foot air hockey table, and some other stuff, all without problems. if you know how to make good use of limmited space, the short bed is still very usable.

the question you have to ask yourself is, is it worth the extra time you may have to take to fit your stuff in a small bed

Sure it could be a little bigger, but I haven't hauled anything that the large majority of it didn't fit in the bed with the gate down. Short bed is also superior for parking :D

New to the forum and soon to be first time '08 Tacoma double cab owner. When looking at hard tonneau cover options I keep seeing 5' & 6' bed options...I didn't realize there were two sizes? What's this look like?...it doesn't say in the description.

...I just realized then the double cab Sport is the 6', right?..at least it looks longer and from what I've read, the TRD Off Road doesn't offer the 6'.
