I just got a Black Lab/Boxer mix and decided to do what other members did and make a puppy platform for my truck. I spent $60 and about and 1 hour to make this. It is easy to put in, take out, and store. It is on hinges so you can still gain access to your storage compartments. I will be adding handles, so I can carry it with ease.

    Material List
    1 - 53"X19" 5/8 Sheet of Plywood
    1 - 53"X23" 5/8 Sheet of Plywood
3 - 4 in. Heavy Duty Tee Hinge (Home Depot SKU #697508)
    1 - 3M Spray Adhesive (Home Depot SKU #364533)
    1 - Grey Indoor/Outdoor Carpeting (Home Depot SKU #467294)
    8 - 1/4" Fender Washers
2 - Saftey clasp (Mills Fleet Farm)
    8 - Screws

I put the fender washers on every corner of the platform (8 total)

I wil be sticking a bolt in there to lock backside in place.

Great idea... Rep given. Perhaps you could use something like the seats use... Maybe visit a junkyard to salvage a few peices (metal bracket and pull tab) for your lock mechanism (which is a bolt and safety clasp).

Nice job - that turned out great. BTW, my chocolate lab went through about 4 of those duck/quail/pheasant dog toys. She loved 'em, but she would have the stuffing ripped out within a week or two. Now she's on a strict tennis ball diet.

I love my leather seats (pleather in the rear) because I can just wipe the seats down with a damp cloth :D I have a Golden Retriever and he loves to track stuff in and I won't mention the amount of hair he sheds.

Hi, I know this is an old post and don't know if you are still around or get notified of new postings but I'll give it a shot. I went to Home Depot and bought the materials to make this great looking platform for our 2014 Tacoma Double Cab and our Golden Retriever and my husband's survey equipment. I have a couple questions please?
    1. How did you put the Tee Hinges on? It sounds like you put them on the backside underneath the boards? But how do you put them on so it folds down to the seat? The hinge part shouldn't be on the top surface where the dog is right? Can't tell where they are. You did a nice job of covering everything with the carpet. Looks very smooth.

    2. What are the Fender Washers for? What are they bolted to on the front side? I don't see anything showing on the front surfaces. And where are the other 4?
