Double Cab Rear Seat Non Slip matting

Hey TW! I've been looking for and cant find a mat/cover that fits on the back of the rear double cab seats. That plastic surface area is nice when the seats are folded down but it is very slippery causing anything sitting there to fly all over the place (dogs, groceries, gear, wife, etc).

Has anyone found a purpose built non slip cover for this area or something that fits the bill and is clean looking?

Consider thin adhesive-backed memory foam sheets if you can live with something that's kinda permanent.
Try: https://www.mcmaster.com/86195K11/ (green is least compressible). The color might not suit you though unless you're more concerned about function rather than looks.
It's easy to cut with poultry shears.
Worked for my 2-drawer toolbox except during extreme stops or moves. Too much mass.

 

That’s a good idea for a DIY solution… I’d need to find something in black though… no way I could rock one of those colors. Haha.

Outdoor carpet cut to size will work good with some double sided tape or carpet tape. I use it on my bed, holds things still surprisingly well. Cost me about $8 at Home Depot.

 

Going to give this a shot I think…. If it looks decent on delivery I’ll cut it to fit the exact size and report back.

I bought some diamond texture rubber sheeting off Amazon, then cut sections to fit in the recessed parts of the plastic seat backs. Make sure to let the stuff air out for a while in the sun and soak in vinegar for a bit so the rubber odor is gone before installing it though (I used some heavy duty double sided adhesive tape).

how in the hell did you cut the material this exact?!?

 

Simple IMO. Make a paper or cardboard template to trace onto the material you're going to use.

 

It's rougher up close, especially on the corners since I just used an exacto knife for it all. I traced out lines for the edges of the seat back on the rubber roll that went wide of the actual lines, then I kept trimming narrow strips off each side until I got it close enough to the lowered part in the seat back that I could then trim short sections off where my cuts were rougher. The corners especially look worse in person up close since I basically just guessed the curve on the corners and kept trimming until each corner fit too but in practice they're easily not noticed.

I found the double-sided tape was nearly the same depth as the rides in the cutout, so I laid my tape strips between the ridges and then just stuck each rubber part down. If you see the lighting in the pictures, you can tell the rubber is not perfectly flat though and has some minor ridges running along it, but in person it's hard to see most of the time fortunately.

 

Finished my project after having the matting sitting in my closet for a few months. Wish I would have done this sooner as nothing slides around back there anymore!
