the extra foot for me is a big deal for camping. allows two people to sleep in the back, on a platform with the length to slide skis/extra toys under neath. i also think they look better, and didnt want a limo DCLB. My preference now goes 1. AC 2. DCLB 3. DCSB. i felt the DCSB was partitioned with not enough room in either the bed or the cab. the cab is tight for anyone over 10 yrs old, and the 5ft bed was too short as well. I dont have plans for kids any time soon, so wanted to maximize what was more useful to me. i can fit my luggage, grocery bags, and cooler in the back seat of my AC now and that all i need. not looking back!

I got into my truck because it hits my list of needs:

    Manual Transmission
    6-Foot Bed
    Factory Rear Locker

I suppose if those options were available in a DCLB I would have gotten into one of those.
FWIW you can't get a truck with these appointments in a 3'rd gen unless you're in :canada:

What's funny is, when I bought my AC 5 years ago I also had no plans of kids and I thought... oh if I don't have room to drive friends around then I won't have to drive! Ha, within that five years I met my wife and kids are now in the picture and (not now, but eventually) there will need to be some plan of what to do with my truck. Do we keep it since its paid off and buy a 3rd vehicle? Do we make due with my truck and her Jetta? Life decisions...

from what ive heard, the double cab barely fits a car seat, then itll be tight from then on out if you multiply more. keep the tacoma! hand it down in 16 years, your kid will be the coolest on the block.
