Has anybody pulled out those plastic liners under the rear seats? Does it free up any space?

I have done this before to look, and not really. Just showed the uneven metal sheet underneath, can't remember whether it was sticky or not like other hidden surgaces in the cab. The middle hump can't be avoided because the driveline is tucked up under there, damn midsize!

The plastic container was more or less the same amount of room, just smoothed out. But you've got me curious so I'm gonna look again.

Be very careful not to break the plastic screws when taking those out.

I will point out however, that I did remove the plastic bins behind the seat and can now put tons of stuff back there. I couldn't even use them before. I had 2 toolboxes sitting on the floor board, so my already small cab was made smaller by 2 toolboxes, and I had a whole compartment in the back that was being unused!

Branching off of that...I would rather the bins removed and given more legroom in the back and put all my tools in the bed, in a container under my bedcover. Seems like a better use of space imo.
So just like the first situation, we have a smaller cab due to storage space and a mostly empty bed.

I wasn't on the design team for the Tacoma though, so they may have needed to slant the seats anyway. I'm sure they chose what was best.

If no need for lockable storage but need a little more room I cut the inner part of bin off .Then just carpeted floor. Adds a little more room.
But if need lockable one that one from EspTruck looks nice.....

That looks good  nice wet okoles! I recognize the cluster of buckles from mine.

Did you fit an umbrella between the storage and seat somehow?

Anyone cut out the metal parts surrounding the plastic bins? Looks like it’s just excess and not structural. Would love a drawer slide out on either side.

I’d rather have a drawer that slides out from either back door with the same split as the seats. This likely isn’t possible which sucks arse
