This is the setup I am using. Expecting my first in November. I should be able to use all three latch points on the back wall.

If your box is built well enough and properly anchored, you can integrate new child seat anchors into your box design. Just make sure they're fastened properly. Use nuts & bolts, not screws.

You can buy boxes like this for around $150, or build one for about $45. Still let you use the anchors, and amp can be mounted in the middle.

It's an even older thread now, but I am in the middle of trying to make/fit an amp rack into the back of my Double Cab, and those child seat anchors are driving me crazy. Can you simply get them reinstalled / retrofitted if you're going to sell the truck? I'd love nothing more than to do the ********* hammer dance on them at this point.

Quick answer is No - if you remove them, then replacement yourself later on, you'll be liable for the weldment work even after you sell the truck. Those are safety critical welds, and its best to leave Toyota carry out the responsibility for them. If you remove them, consider them permanently removed.

Damn it. Ok thanks for the answer. I guess I am building around them, even tho I doubt I'll be selling the truck or needing them. :)

I had to remove two of my latch points (passenger side and center) and I had a local shop fab up and weld new ones higher on the back wall.

The 8" version drops neatly in to the storage bins. The 10" version doesn't quite fit, but if you trim the wings it probably could fit. The 12" version would need to be trimmed, bins removed, etc to fit. There's only 12" of clearance between the bottom of the cubby and the top tether anchor if I remember correctly...

I got this for really cheap couldn't pass it up. It's a loaded 12" and it fits and clears the seat. But I'm looking for ways to secure it and I want to bend the anchor hooks so I could slide it back a little more. Anyone tried bending the anchors upward? I'm planning on running the amp right above it, trying to figure out a rack solution. The goal here is to keep the anchors, run the amp and sub all behind the back passenger seat. To try and avoid anything mounted under front seats and retain most of my back seat storage

I would use the existing threaded holes in the truck to mount the box (the 10mm bolts you took off to remove the plastic. obviously you would do this with the speaker removed and drill holes in the box that would have to be siliconed to seal the box back up once the bolts are threaded back in. keeps it nice and clean. it also makes it very, very difficult to steal.

sorry if its a little confusing.

Since they are there to hold child car seats I wouldn’t try to bend the anchors as that might reduce their strength.

With that box, the seat back folds back and latches? Do you think there’s clearance for the woofer without removing the seat back?

I mounted my amp in the bins under the rear seat.

the seat latches all the way back. and from I can see it looks like it clears. I just like things to fit flush, tight, and uniform.
