ok i have a 02 extended cab and i'm getting the u joint squeak. So i just went to town and replaced all the u joint (it had been a while and i figured i might as well do them all). so i did the 2 on the rear drive shaft and the 2 on the front drive shaft. Well that didn't fix the squeak. So i dug further and i checked the center support bearing and that fine, then come to find out it's the double cardan joint. I called toyota about it and they say it's a none replacable part, and that i had to buy an entire drive shaft. Now i'm just wondering if i can replace the u joints in it and the little bearing also, and how much of a pain in the a$$ it is, and what the part numbers may be.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
    I'm not 100% sure but aren't they just u-joints?

I just had the U-joints in my rear drive shaft replaced. I took it to Inland Truck Parts. They can get after market replacement u-joints for the whole shaft and have the center ball kit. Lucky for me the double cardan joint was okay and didn't need any work.

If you do it yourself, it is a pain. I did the one on my old 94 Toyota, not realizing what I tore into when I started. It took several hours and lots of cussing to get it back together. I swore I would never do another one.

ha ha that seems to pretty much be the census with them. I'm thinking i might just try to find one at a salvage yard that is still good.
