Two twelves right behind the drivers seat is an experience for sure:headbang:
Mine mounted to the old hardware, but if yours doesn’t I’d think that u could screw in in somewhere or use adhesive strips;)

I am looking at going with a fairly inexpensive JVC in the near future. Not looking for anything fancy just a double din upgrade over the factory unit.
One advantage that I see is that it has a clock that might actually be readable (since there is no way I can actually read the stupid factory clock with the steering wheel in the way).

before joining TW i had no idea that the 'newer' 1st gens had such an issue with seeing the clock by the ignition switch, what was Toyota thinking with the interior redesign?

they should've put the clock in the spot where the passenger airbag on/off switch is at!

unfortunately i can not get into the double din even though i itch for the newer tech than my 12yr old aftermarket (3rd head unit including factory tape deck) because I will 'lose' the precious pocket i have been accustomed to and apparently taken for granted for nearly 22 1/2 years now :(

I decided to go with a double din Sony WX-920BT because I thought it matched the truck a little better. I've previously had single din pioneer units and I'm pretty happy with the switch to double. As someone mentioned earlier, double din doesn't need a dash kit so if you can find a good deal...

Best Buy will install stereos over $100 bucks for free if you want to save some time or effort.

Did you guys have to purchase a dash kit to fit this? I just acquired a 2001 DC and want to put my Kenwood from my previous truck in it

If it has the factory radio just re-use the brackets and buy the harness.
