That would be peak irony: double-filtered oil with barely filtered air.

A couple things, the trucker who double filtered his truck has nothing, zero , zilch to prove it was the double filtered as the reason he got 800000+ miles on his engine. Who knows he may have gotten more miles without the double filter. Lots of big truck tractors go 1 million miles+ and no double filter. Pure bullshit.
There are lots of Toyota trucks that go 500000+ miles and I’m sure none of them have double filters. I’ve never ever known anyone with double oil filters, but I guess there are a couple out there. But hey if you think it’s the be all and end all by means double up on those oil filters. Maybe add 3 or 4 filters. If 2 is good , 3 or 4 must be better.
Fram filters, been using them on and off for 50 years. Never ever one single problem caused. They are probably the most sold filter in the world. Use what ever filter you want, no harm will be done to your engine cause you used a Fram filter.
The bottom line is and the most important thing is as long as you use a quality oil (Dino or synthetic), the correct viscosity, and change oil and filter at manufacturer recommended intervals or sooner your vehicle will not fail due to oil or filter.

Filtering particulates from oil is easy. Removing combustion contaminates is the hard part and car engines are not set up to do that. That is why you periodically have to change the oil in a car! On the submarine, we didn't filter oil, we cleaned it using centrifugal purifiers and the oil would last for years.

Would be awesome if both air, and oil, were filtered with centrifugal purifiers on these cars and trucks now a days. It makes too much sense, really, for todays environment.

I have a good friend that does R&D engineering for semi trucks. According to him the design life is 1 million miles for their diesel engines.

Another take is that wear channel and failure is due to oil starvation from extra oil flow restriction due to the second filter. Either way, a single engine tells nothing about if the change he made helped or hurt his engine. Personally I will trust the engineers to know what they are doing and follow their instructions.

The new Fram filters test out higher than most of the stuff out there.
The orange box ones still suck but the synthetic ones test out higher than almost everything out there.

It will make the oil flowing at higher velocity when you add more restriction to the oil passage. You know, like pinching a garden hose.

Why stop at 2 filters though?

10 would be better. :) 10 x the protection. Wow, imagine that...

2 filters would only work if Friday came right after Friday.

I have installed used gym socks in strategic locations throughout my engine and transmission as extra filtration devices, that's why I have over 100K miles on my truck.
