thats one of the reasons I like my side steps...they protrude out past the body, so if a car opens their door too much in that area it will hit the step and not the body of my truck. However, if their backdoor is at my rear fender that will hit. Or other big trucks, their doors are above the steps.

The last place I worked had designated the last 3 rows of their HUGE parking lot for those who wanted ding free parking.

Everyone that walked that extra 1/2 mile took up 2 or 3 parking spaces. I parked back there for 16 years before retirement.

Parking related: I had to park in an underground garage at the Kennedy Center. It had 6’ clearance. By the time I realized that I was already in. Brand new Taco. There was deadly metal stuff hanging from the ceiling. I almost had a heart attack!! Made it through ok though.

i have a 2010 without a single dent. I have avid offroad sliders with kickouts, and color matched door mouldings. If a door did get past the sliders, the moldings would get hit and not the sheet metal. I also typically park far away from everybody. it's worth it.

Man I took the family to the beach and hit the grocery store on the way home and encountered two lame parking jobs.

I like to park in the last spot and line up my tires right on the outside line. That way anyone parking next to me can't get near me unless they cross the next line.

I’ve seen bumper type guards you can purchase if your concerned about door dings.

Sometimes no matter how hard I try to avoid dings someone finds a way. My lovely wife let her Tacoma door smack my '19 GMC 3500 right on the body line. I died a little inside. But I say park how you want but be considerate of others:notsure:

People will go out of their way to ruin your property.

I went to the vet, Friday, and parked at the far end of the lot. I went in and sat, waiting for vacc boosters for my dog. This 300lb chubba woman waddles in with a great dane who's obviously never been leash trained, but is anchored by chubba woman.

I go back to my truck and there's a Chevy Subdivision parked beside my truck. I drive the 20 miles home and notice that there's a big dent in my bed/quarter panel. My dvr shows the chubba, wrestling her dog out of the SUV and staggering into my truck.

It can be glue-pulled, good as new, but I shouldn't have to do that.

Park where you want, OP, but it won't be safe.

On the weekends, when I have free time, I drive to the nearest Wal-Mart, park in the closest spot available, and just sit there... for hours... watching people... wishing that a mutha fucka would...

Fortunately even if this is an asshole move, someone else will likely be an even bigger asshole anyway. So on the scale of assholery I’d rate it too low to care about. Others may disagree, of course they are strict rules abiding types that never speed nor grab two mints on the way out of restaurants like us hardened felonious types might.

    Yes.

If you want to park at the far end to avoid others, that's fine - enjoy your exercise. But park like a normal person between the lines. You aren't the special snowflake that gets an exception because "your car is too nice".

This is a good way to put it. And it’s true. You and your bolt-on fucked Tacoma aren’t special.
