Has any one gone from a double cab to a single cab? I'm thinking about trading my double cab pre runner to a single cab 4x4 iwas just wondering if any one did it and hates it now?

I would imagine you wouldn't like giving up more than half the cab space you have now....depends on your uses and needs...

I went from an extended cab Titan to a regular cab tacoma. I loved it and got a camper shell for more storage space.
The transition to a smaller truck was not bad. If I didn't have a son 3 years ago I would probably still have the regular cab.

I'd say unless you positively have to.....I'd stay with a double cab. I've heard of people making the transition from the AC to a DC and they love the DC a whole lot more.

I wouldn't like not being able to lean the seats back.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
If you buy the automatic it would have bucket seats that I assume would recline. I've had AC's. Try the RC...less weight to haul around, too.

I own a 1st Gen Ext Cab. I would not want a regular cab and I'm often sifting through postings for dcabs. My father bought a 2010 regular cab. I strongly advised on getting an access cab and he told me all he needed was a regular cab. A year later, I was hearing he wished he had got the access cab.

You would go nuts because you used to having a double cab.

Have you ever heard anyone rejoicing about how much less space

they have in their vehicle ???

How so, aren't the seats butted up against the cab wall? That unless you're 5'2 and the seat is up against the dashboard.

I've had single cabs by Toyota, Isuzu, Ford and Chevy. They're fine for cheap transportation, but you can't lean back and take a nap in a Single and you can't keep anything dry unless you have a topper or bed cover. I only do Access/Double cabs now.

    No effing way!

The wife has her single cab and loves it. She is 5'4". I'm 5'9". The seats do recline if you move the seat forward.

I drive an xcab and hate, did I say hate?, driving her single cab. Of course she hates driving my xcab.

His and her Tacoma's works for us.

I had a single cab Ranger, and it's not bad for just you and one other person. But if you ever need a dry storage space, it's not going to happen without a tonneau or topper. I have the DC now, and it's just me and my dog. But we have plenty of space when we road trip to Georgia from Nebraska. I also have a roll up tonneau for dry storage in the bed, but full access to the bed when I need it. I would say stick with a DC.

If you are doing mainly for the 4x4, then I would reconsider unless this is mainly for offroad purposes. Just having the extra room for passengers and leg room along with the resale value would make me reconsider. I would go with an AC Tacoma 4x4 before looking at a regular cab but if it suits your needs, then that's all that matters.

I had a 1st gen single cab for 10 years, you get used to it. Single cabs have good and bad things about them. My only issue was no space for kids and no 4x4. No space for kids ment the wife had to drop off and pick up from school which could be a good or bad thing depending on how you look at it lol.

If I had the money I would have a second gen single cab 4x4 with a cap as a toy/hunting truck. You can pimp out a bed with topper for all your storage needs and leave the front for just essentials. Not being able to recline and take a nap was a huge pain in the ass for me in my single cab.

Isn't the ride a lot less comfortable in a single cab? I think the length of the double cab takes out a lot of that truck bounce

I've got a DC and I couldn't imagine going from that to a reg cab.

DC and AC cabs are way too conveinent to give up IMHO.

Im the same height and fit fine in my old regular cab. Take into consideration that if you have kids or might have them soon then pass on the regular cab.
As I said before, I loved my old RC and it was really good to me.

I'm just under 6' and have no issues fitting with plenty of head room. I've got a 09 RC 4x4 and the space issue becomes a problem when traveling with the wife or needing to go grocery shopping in bad weather....I don't have kids so that is not an issue.

22mpg and the simplicity of the truck is what I love.

A little of this and a little of that.
I wouldn't mind going back to a regular cab. If you're not hauling people on a regular basis & that size cab will work for you, go for it.
