True, you only have to read me the meranda when interrogating me. But at the same time I don't have to say anything to you. "Anything I say can and will be used agaist me" even if that is something I have said to you BEFORE you started to "interrogate" me; therefore the 5th amendment is valid, because anything I say at anytime can be used against me.

Please go up to post #190 and watch the 2 video's. It is from a law class, the 2nd part has a Virgina cop talking to the class. It also states the exact laws, U.S. Suprem Court Opinions and ruleings.

Or are we scared of people being informed, and wish people were just stupid and scared into following blindly???

Well isn't that guy cool for not answering the question. They should have pistol whipped him to death. One less moron sucking up oxygen on the planet. People like this piss me the fuck off. Yeah cops can be intrusive sometimes, but instead of being a fucking hero and uploading a video of you "sticking it to the man", how about you realize when you're being a dick for NO REASON AT ALL and answer the question...

How about you read a thread before posting on the 10th page like the previous 10 pages never happened. Then realize how completely fucking off you are.

I read 2 pages. What'd I miss. The fact he has rights?

OOOO made it to page 3 and saw you're in defense of the douchebag. That explains it.

And for my final edit, what does 10 other pages of responses have to do with how I feel....... Let me just take in everyone else's opinion to create my own.. Obviously, all that tells me is that you're dim witted and a follower.

The guy in the video is making a very very important point. The point is that as citizens we still have RIGHTS. It's actually makes my stomache turn to see people calling the guy out for what he did when others in different countries have DIED for the right to do something similar. The point is things are not getting better around us. You need to be knowledgeable and have the balls to use the rights given to us, otherwise there will be more laws that will slowly chip away at our rights until there is nothing left but a person at the whim of a politician who has $$$ figures in mind for the state budget. This video was a beautifull example of american rights at work. The police were very very cordial and deserve the highest respect and the person recording the video deserves recognition for his awareness of our rights. 10 years ago checkpoints were NON EXISTENT. Now the local government calls them "traffic seat belt safety stops" and when people in quicker cars or that are younger get pulled over to the side and questioned than thats just procedure. Sorry, I dont accept that. And I have friends in law enforcement that agree.

It may have been a good example of him exercising his rights, but he did it at the wrong place at the wrong time. These DUI checkpoints are there to make the roads safer, and nothing more.

this video annoyed the god-given fuck out of me. again, like some of you said, i'm all for rights and what not but nowhere in this video were his rights being threatened. if anything, the cops were being very polite and he was just being a complete asshole and deserved to be dragged out of the car and beaten into a breathalyzer. i hate all these "righteous" people who want stand up to big govt and make a point about nothing at all. the only kind of person that would act like this is one that is clearly intoxicated and has no other way out of it. if you want to make a statement, do it in a braver, more effective way not like this piss-ant waiting for america to pat him on the back for his "courageous" act.

There's a wrong time to stick up for your rights? I think, with the government, you pretty much always have to stick up for your rights.

I think he was being a dick about how he asserted his rights here, there was a more appropriate way to do it. But I would never criticize the fact that he actually did it.

That is entirely incorrect. These checkpoints get federal funding for being "safety belt checkpoint stops" but are used for DUI arrests which bring in much larger sums of income for the local county/town/city

I would like another officer of the law in here to tell me otherwise that they get federal funding for "belt check stops" - thats what my local police buddy told me.

Obviously he wasn't intoxicated, they let him go. And the idea that people are ok with someone being beaten by the police for asserting their rights, however ridiculous the situation, is pretty chilling.

You can't honestly think I'm for rights and all that and then say this guy should be dragged from his car and beaten into a breathalyzer for exercising his.

If you want to make a statement about something the police are doing why not do it at the location it is being done. Same reason people protest at the location they're protesting. I don't understand how so many of you fail to understand that. Is he going to change the world? no. But he did his part. Now there are a bunch of people on some internet forum debating about it.

Also the relentless, brainless, and ignorant comments from some military/police personnel on this forum never fails every time one of these threads pop up. Every. Time.
