So I'm looking at the Doug thorely long tube headers and I see they delete the catalitic converter and was wondering if I could cut the cars off the manifold and put them on the new headers or if put cats on the long tube headers would just ruin the point.of the headers

If you are worried about keeping your cats on then headers may not be what you want. Long tubes delete the upper cats and short tubes will use the cats but don't have as much of a gain as long tubes. I went with short tubes because of California laws and didn't feel like removing every 2 years

I would just remove and replace when inspection time comes. The is no reason to put the cats on with long tubes. Defeats the purpose

That's not actually true. Kind of but not the way you put it. OP, you can always find a friendly smogger for a few greenbacks. I am in CA and I have long tube headers. Shortys are kind of a waste of money. You don't see them and they offer no gains worth the hassle unless you cracked your stock exhaust manifold . I believe the OEM ones are pricey

Im running DTLT with an AeroTurbine 2525XL and o2 sims. Sounds good at idle and cruise. WOT is tinny and sounds like a weedeater. I cant speak as to inspections/emissions.

Yeah they are not making things much louder just kind of deeper sounding.
I run the TRD exhaust bc it was already on anyway otherwise I would just weld in the biggest magnaflow I can fit. Just don't expect V8 sound

I have a 2007 with DT long tube headers and 02 simulators. I have passed emissions every year without any problems. They plug into the OBD-II port and as long as the computer doesn't show any codes, you pass. I even had them one year stick a probe in the tailpipe as well and still passed.

The cats are welded to the factory manifold.

Without the cats the sound changes a lot. You'll have a Check Engine Light too.

Since you have an older 2nd gen you might get away with the URD O2 Simulator. It doesn't work on my 2015 though.

You could have the cats cut off and welded onto your exhaust behind the headers though.

So would the check engine light come on?

And wouldn't putting the cats on the new headers just ruin the point of the headers

Is there tuning software like in GM vehicles? This is my first non-GM truck and always used HPTuners to turn off codes and delete rear 02's from the system. Or is it 02 sims only?
