I have a JBA catback system showing up tomorrow and I'm ecxited since this will be my first upgrade involving performance. Next thing on my list: getting rid of those nasty looking stock manifolds and get some nice headers.

I've been considering Doug Thorley long tubes but i have two concerns about getting those that have me wondering if i should look at other headers.

My first one is this: I know long tube headers means deleting my cats. Should i delete the cats, and if so, how do I pass visual inspection? I live in Texas so I'm not worried about emmisions tests, just visual. Also, is the performance gain worth it?

Second: would DTLT's combined with a JBA catback be too loud? I've heard audio of the jba's and DT's but not both put together on a taco so im worried about spending hundreds for good performance gains but getting raspy and obnoxious sound.

Also, are there any Y-pipes with high flow cats? Those would make this decision easier.

Thank you guys. All comments and suggestions welcome

The sound of that pair (JBA's with DTLT) would more likely sound pretty decent. I got Doug thorley's shorties paired with flowmasters and it has a deep tone to it. Those LT's are gonna wake up the 4.0L thats for damn sure.

Would you reccomend shorties over LT's or the LT's over shorties. If needed, i can drive 6 hours west to my uncle's shop and weld some stuff if needed so i can make fitment happen

I recommend the URD SPEC-U headers. Best performance gain of torque throughout the whole rpm range.

personally i went with shorties because my taco is my daily but i would prefer the LT's because they would sound nastier than the shorties. But its all up to you my friend, good luck!
