So guys I've been having some issues with my truck at full droop. It will droop until the uca hits the spring and the cv shaft binds. This wasnt an issue until i cranked the toytecs up, removed the sway bar and got the front end aligned.

My question is what limits the droop or down travel. The drivers side droops about 3" more than the passenger side, but why? They appear to be perfect mirrors of each other.

I don't know but I know there are travel limiting straps.

Yeah! That was my plan initially, but now im wondering if something is wrong since the passenger side doesnt have an issue.

The swaybar would limit down travel, but now that it's not on, the suspension has more individual movement side to side than before. But i have no idea why there's such a difference side to side :notsure:

I just realized this isn't a long travel setup.

Looks like the uniball or ball joint in your UCA may be broken or not seated correctly. Something about that joint looks wrong and overextended.

That makes since. But im not the only one not running a sway bar. The axle binds to the point where the tire will not spin

I can pull the boot and look

Edit: there is no unusual movement in any of the parts, checked by me and a local offroad shop

If that's the stock UCA there's something terribly wrong there. It's not supposed to move that much.

Just to confirm, no top of coil spacer on the truck?

I have less than .25" of difference between PS & DS droop. They both droop, from resting height (tires on the ground to tires just leaving the ground) ~3" since my C/O's are cranked way up. For you to have a 3" difference from one side to the other is a huge issue.

Looking again, it looks like you have a shitload of pre-load on the coils. you can use a tape measurer and measure the exposed threads from the bottom side of the spring pearch to the top edge of the flange where the threads start. Typically if you double that measurement, that is the amount of lift that you have.

First I've ever heard this. I have 2.35" pre-load & 2.5" of lift. Certainly doesn't work for me!

Well, actually.... I've heard that, but i don't have adjustable shock perches that are adjusted with a spanner wrench :anonymous:

still looks like a shitload of pre-load to me though.

Lot of bad info in here.

    Your shock (coilover) is toast.

Those 5100s have a little internal down travel limiter welded on the shaft, which you've broke. You should be able to see the evidence of a couple little tack welds on the shock shaft where it use to reside.

@Darkgoatracer can you post a picture of your passenger side at full droop? It looks like the upper part of the spindle is bent towards the engine bay. Measure the horizontal distance from the face of your wheel spacer to the centerline of the of the UCA ball joint stud for both sides.

I think this may be your problem, unfortunately. It's the only thing that would explain the difference between R and L side.
