Stock tires are SL which is lower than C. Your tires are overkill for a daily driver.

Like others have suggested before, why don't you just keep what you have, drop the 6112's to stock settings and get an OE leaf pack?

I'm confused why you want to get rid of the 6112/5160 suspension when you can achieve stock ride height with what you have, and do it with better parts than TRD pro parts.

Honestly, I think ever since my trip to midas where they saw leaks (what I think is really just fluid film I sprayed to clean at one point) telling me they are shot got to me. But yes, I guess I could try this approach too. I didn't end up getting the pro suspension yet. The other side of this is just wanting to return everything to stock and ride out this truck into the ground. Any kind of lift can add to more wear and tear... and I think that doesn't help in my mind as well. I'm at the point in my tacoma "career" where I just want to set it all and forget it.

But you make a good point too. I wonder if I just got stock UCAs and leafs... and had them bring the 6112s to close to stock height... that might do the trick as well?

You mentioned your current set up has 60k on it right? ( it's tired) Just get the pro suspension with little to no miles and then your good for another 50k plus.

In my mind, it's worth a try, but if they're shot then I understand your point. I bet it's frustrating dealing with uneven wear on your tires and an uncomfortable ride.

I hope you can get back to a happy place with whatever decision you make. Keep us posted!

thanks! And thats just the thing... I don't want to take it in only to discover once they have the suspension off upfront that they are in fact shot. So I'm sort of thinking of just slowly gathering the stock parts over the next few months on here and CL, and then taking it in to have it all installed. I was quoted 4-650 from a local jeep shop who also does tacos for it all... so its not too bad.

I would get pro suspension, you'll be happy with it. I have it.

Its nice for sure, but at this point I'm trying to do it all as cheap as I can. Do you have the '21 pro suspension or the new '22 where they increased height and added new UCAs?

Although often stated as fact on this forum, I know of no scientific evidence that lifting your truck has any effect on longevity. It’s a decent guess, but not backed up by any science I’m aware of. At the same time there is always risk associated with modifying or using your truck beyond what it was engineered to do.

My gut feel is longevity is more affected by how you use and maintain your truck.

Agreed. OK so now its time to source parts. One thing I want to confirm is part compatibility. Are any-year third gen parts compatible? So if I find 2021 UCAs and a 2019 leaf pack... or a 2016 shock set... its all compatible and the same part as what my 2018 originally came with?

As far as suspension parts, yes, that is the consensus on this forum. The shocks are different but are interchangeable. Everything else is the same.

EDIT: the newer Pro (2022?) has some red UCAs that look different. I’m not sure if they offer any advantages other than looks.

sorry, I should have said off road parts, not the pro stuff. Are the off road shocks the same with all third gen years?

I’ve never heard of multiple part numbers for 3rd gen off road shocks. Get used to pretty much everything being being the same on the 3rd gens.

I actually have the 2nd gen (Bilstein) pro suspension on my 18, whish gave me 2" of lift in front, on stock control arms, rtx in back. But my friend has 20 pro suspension on his 20 sport with stock arms also. He agained 1" in front. Bit softer than mine.

hey everyone, so I secured some stock 2021 take-off UCAs with 800 miles on them, and figured I'd keep this thread alive through my "downgrade" process.

If assuming my 6112s are OK (hoping installers can tell once they get them off the truck), does anyone know what notches they need to be set at to achieve 2018-2021 trd pro 1" lift height? With that said, do the pre-'22 pros have any lift in the back? I'm asking, because I wouldn't want to end up with a front end that was too high compared to the back.

And then I'll be sourcing a stock leaf pack. Will the 5160s still work with stock height? Not sure if they are too long or not.

And then I was thinking of getting the new BFG trail terrain (I think its an SL rating) in 265/70/17 or similar and keeping my F5s. Looking for a good in-between from the stock tires that come with the taco and an all terrain.

Pre 22 pro's no lift in back. 5160 will work at stock height. I can't help you with the rest of your questions.
