I drove mostly manual transmission trucks from 1976 to 2006. It took me several weeks of driving my '06 automatic Tacoma before I stopped pushing an imaginary clutch and trying to shift. Toyota trucks, with their synchronized transmissions, have always been easy to shift though, compared to the grain trucks I drove while working at farm jobs in high school and college, which had to be double clutched.

Downshift. It's fun in summer, and safer in winter.
