No, it's not a "feature". It's shitty programming. Not a single F150, Silverado, or any other truck I've driven does this without being in tow/haul mode.

The cruise is god awful on these trucks. I have a 17 so no TSB available. Going 75-80, I can maintain speed perfectly fine with my foot. Going up a hill I give it a small amount of gas to maintain speed and it doesn't downshift. I put on cruise control and the truck goes full retard. As soon as I take my foot off the gas or even look at a small incline, it drops to 4th and holds 3500 rpm. Even going down hill it holds 3500 for about 15 seconds then will finally shift into 6th.

You are sure the parking brakes aren't dragging or out of adjustment ?

Drive a manual - problem solved

    Then you get to decide
rather then the vehicle deciding for you.

With a manual you could roll up to a stop sign in 5th gear if you wanted
tho' I don't know why one would do that.

IMO... some people just shouldn't own or drive a truck.
Especially when it's fully automated for the masses (dummy's).

Sorry if the facts of life present a mechanical discord.
I personally have no empathy for retard automation
nor the people whom think they need that.

It's ok to hate on me.
    I really don't give a rat's butt.

rofl. It's got nothing to do with need. I sit in traffic an hour each way for work. My 5 Mustangs were all standard. Standards ARE more fun for a cruiser. Not a daily that sees traffic regularly. That being said, in the vast majority of modern vehicles, automatics are far superior. With proper calibration a modern automatic (especially those with proper tiptronic or paddle shifters) do everything better than a manual trans. The mechanics of the trans are fine. It's the programming and calibration that suck.

+1. My properly tuned 6l80 kills tremecs every time I'm at the track.

Covered in stickers and chrome stick-ons for extra horse torques and foot powers. Icon sticker gets me tons of travel, dozens of milimeters.
You named all full size pickups. Not surprised. Off to the ignore list with you!

Silverado/Sierra HD's most definitely have grade shifting regardless if tow mode is on or not. But it can be disabled

Manuals have 4.30 gear ratio, much better then 3.90's.

Injector pulse is cut during coast for a few different reasons. What you feel is basically engine braking. Toyota has been using this for years and it's not going away because you don't like it.

This is exactly what happens with mine. Usually between 40-50mph it feels exactly like when you downshift in a manual with the purpose of slowing down, except in this case 90% of the time I am wanting to coast and the downshift is super obnoxious. I'm about 2000 miles post tsb and atf check. I'd love to know if this is just the gearing, aerodynamics, or both. If there is some kind of fix outside of getting a new vehicle it would be great to know.

Suggest checking whether your u-joints have grease. My truck rolls MUCH better after greasing the zerks; improved mileage also.

Wow, I'm surprised you still experienced it even AFTER your TSB and ATF levels were checked and done. I hope we are all able to find a solution to this.

Btw, I don't know a single vehicle in overdrive that goes down to 1600 rpm's at 65 mph.
2200 rpm's puts it in Power curve. You'll get better mpg also!!!! Expedition Overlander or getting 4-5 miles per gallon better with their 4.88's .

I searched for info on their 2016 Tacoma build. I couldn't find anything on new gears. Do you have a link handy?

My G8 with 27" tires and 2.92's turns a little under 1600 at 65. My dads 2500hd, 4.10's and 33's turns identical RPM. Both use the same trans, which has a double over drive.

When my sportronic auto in my car wants to get all douchy in cruise control all I do is push the shifter over from D to M and in manual mode the cruise does what it should. Has anyone tried this in their auto Tacos?

Trucks used to have 3 speed automatic transmissions. Then 4. 6 speeds may be too many options.
Toyota could have just kept the 5 speed automatic.
    What's next?
