Your fuel injectors turn off when you remove your foot from the gas pedal . If the transmission downshifts at the same time as the injectors cut out , it feels like someone hit the breaks for you . This is a normal function and how Toyota transmissions and fuel management work together to save you gas .
This programming works excellent in winter weather but during summer months its fairly aggressive from the drivers seat .
Toyota follows strict EPA guidelines and we suffer the drive-ability issues because of it

No BRO-ness to speak of... Well, except Kbro2's
Agreed. 2016 TRD OR 4x4 here.... did this shit continuously before TSB, cruise control on or not... now it usually only does it in cruise mode.

I really don't understand why some people have to always make an excuse for everything and and even go as far as calling a crappy transmission with ultra shitty programming a "feature" or "engine braking"... WHAT A JOKE!! Do these people work for Toyota or something??? I have owned many Toyota's since my first truck way back in 1992. My parents have owned Toyota's since the early 1980's and still drive Lexus's today. I will buy more Toyota's as years go by. AWESOME VEHICLES!!!! Hell, despite its many flaws, i STILL love my Taco... However, just because a company usually builds high quality vehicles doesn't get them a free pass when they screw up. Call a spade a spade for god's sake... These 6 speed autos are REALLY BAD and the programming seems to have been done by a mongoloid.

Now, off to read that post on the 4.88's!

No mechanic here; however, I have learned there is a lot of resistance on your spinning driveline when the u-joints aren't greased. What part of the literary did you not understand?

I don't notice any 'down shifting' per se with mine if I'm rolling to a stop from say like 60 or so. However, I do notice downshifting when the cruise is on, but not set, on the steeper hills with the foot off of the accelerator pedal. Thought that was a bit strange. I have an automatic v6.
