Well folks, I went and did a thing.

Gonna be moving back to the Seattle area for work mid-May. Gonna miss living in Utah, but a solid promotion opened up that was hard to ignore.

With the more crowded nature of that area, I'm looking at downsizing my ride from an OvErLaNd kitted-out 2nd gen. Looking at a Ford Maverick, but other recommendations welcome. I looked at Honda Ridgelines but didn't need anything that truck-like.

For weekend warrior use, anyone know of a good way to mount a RTT to one? As well, what's the biggest tire size I can fit on one? Trying to figure out if I can swap over my 285s.

Maverick sounds solid but for Seattle you should go Subaru Baja, can prob cram the 285s if the tread is worn down enough

I wont buy it because it is not a Toyota - Mazda - Honda but I love the concept of it. From a distance it looks like a F150 coming at you. Its well thought out and I was tempted to look when I recently bought my CX5 but the word in front of Maverick scared me off. Where's Toyotas version?

Same thought. Maybe a GR version.

I wouldn't buy a Maverick with the situation right now with Ford and their dealer network issues. I would wait on the Toyota version of whatever its called. No Matter where you the Tacoma is always worth something significant. Just my 2c but I would hold off. At worst once the Toyota version comes out than more than likely the nonsense over at Ford will come to a halt.

Does it need to be a truck? Subaru’s are super popular in the PNW for a reason.

Keep the 2nd gen. The size between the current Tacoma and the "compact" Mav/Santa/Ridge isn't large enough to notice, even in Seattle. You'd only benefit if you sized all the way down to a hatchback.

Bw s256 turbo with 3 in glass pack dumped pre axle raptor liner bed and top rails and fenderflares and rocker panels. Hunter side steps. Plasti-dipped upper fenders and emblems. satin black spray paint here and there inside and out. 5100's set to 1.75" up front . C channel front bumper. Maxxis bighorn 255/85/16
I dunno if you are just needing a bed, but a 3rd gen RAV4 might fit the bill and keep it in the Toyota family (they started getting smaller after 3rd gen; it's the largest and with the rear seats layed flat, you have over 6' of space behind the front seats, plus most have a luggage rack so an RTT shouldn't be too big of a deal if needed be)

I'm done buying cars for now. That was the whole point of getting my 2015.

Ike Ryan said, it's not like you're saving a ton of space going down to the Maverick, the Tacoma isnt a large vehicle

My kid bought a Hyundai Santa Cruz. I sat in and/or test drove every small to mid sized suv that I could find before finally buying my Tacoma. All of the suv's sucked, I like the Hyundai better. It's not exactly a truck, but it does have a bed.....all 4'2".

Came to say the same thing. It’s like 8” difference. Retain your rig and save some cash.
