Unfortunately the rack and pinion and ECGS bushing took priority over a cb or ham radio.

I may have missed it as I skimmed back through the thread, but is the meeting time/place set yet? I have what should be a quick dump run to make that morning for my town's bulk collection day but they don't open the gates until 8am and it's a solid 2 hours from here to Lanesboro (Olde Forge). I may have to rendezvous with the convoy on the tour if it's any earlier than 10:30-11.

    Unrelated but still semi-related:
Has anyone explored October Mtn in their truck? I used to ride my quad there but know some trails are ATV-only. There were a few shared access roads (one around a dam/reservoir IIRC, thinking it was Farnham Reservoir?) that were a bit rougher but aside from that and the stream crossing with the large rocks on one side (by the road that runs along the river which leads to the bigger dam, was it Washington Mtn Road?) is there anything worth doing? And can the trail I mentioned above (*pretty* sure looking at a map it is Washington Mtn Road) even be legally run in a truck?

Thanks, won't drag this any further off-topic but maybe we'll plan an MA state park day for the winter or spring (but we can get a different thread going for that)

Yes, the main roads through are in pretty good condition. Whitney Place Rd. is a little rougher as you head toward the Lenox side, but still passable in anything with decent clearance (a Subaru Outback or Forester would have no issues).

There's a road around Ashley Reservoir that's really rough. I've driven my truck through, but won't do it again. There's also some trails off of that one that go way out somewhere that are in similar condition.

You mean the one that has a steep hill going down to an open pit area? Only other ways I know how to describe the one I'm thinking of is that it there's a small parking/break area right next to the reservoir dam. If I can dig up some old ATV pictures I can find it...

That is actually Whitney Place Rd., if you're describing what I think you are Some storms made the hill up to the dam almost not passable at one time, but it's in great shape now. They replaced the dam pretty recently. Past the reservoir it's a little rougher.

There are two or three other lakes/reservoirs. The one I'm talking about is Ashley, which you can't even see from the trail that goes by it. There's a gate and a path to get to it.

Is Ashley the one off Schermerhorn Road, which has the hill that they closed a few years back after a hurricane?
