Do the drain and fill, and do all of the other 60K service requirements yourself. Engine oil and filter, diffs, plugs, etc.

Also consider dropping the pan on the first tranny drain, replace the screen, clean the pan and magnets.

    ^ This is very important.
You will need 6 qts of the tranny fluid for this operation.

    Here's the Filter:

    Here's the Gasket:
    https://toyotaparts.mcgeorgetoyota.com/oem-parts/toyota-pan-gasket-3516804010
The Gasket is designed to be re-used, but you might want to have a replacement on hand 'just in case'.

What you want to plan for is having 4 quarts on hand. About 3 quarts should drain out, so you need to replace more than that so you have an overage by which to observe the draining fluid slow to a trickle. If you drop the pan, plan on 5 quarts on hand. Just replace a 1/3 to 1/2 a quart more than what the chart above quotes is the drained amount. Don’t go by what actually drained, it may not have been full.

Maybe I shoulda done my math better. But 2.4 extra quarts to come out just from dropping the pan after draining it? Maybe that includes pulling the screen. But I recall only draining a total of 4.5 quarts when I dropped the pan.

No harm in having extra tranny fluid around though.

Yah, they all seem to be a little different.
I got another 1/2 qt out when I changed my filter, so that's part of it too.
And if someone is going to drop the pan, then it's very easy, and 5 extra minutes, to also change the filter while they're in there.
Here's to Happy Trannys for all

I dropped my pan but tried to clean my screen…I found out that it’s really not designed to be cleaned. I wish I’d known, I would’ve had a replacement ready to go. Next time.

You have the "tow package" which has the external cooler? If so the complete transmission flush and fill process is easy. If not - drain and fill is still not that hard. All the other fluids are easy to change out too. It is not hard to do any of these. You just need time, tools, and knowledge of how to do the work. if you are not comfortable doing any of this find a dependable independent - not a commercial oil change shop (rhymes with jiffy or greasy) and have them do the work.

Do you have to buy specific PIDs on top of the app, or can you just jump pull up a gauge for trans temp at the pan?

It’s not a flush it’s a fluid exchange. Big difference.

    Sounds about right for cost.
I just had the following list done for $1600 Canadian with taxes . I hit 145,000 km and wanted this work done

-change all fluids. Transmission, transfer case, differentials, coolant, power steering, brake fluid , engine oil
    - new serpentine belt and check pullies
    - Toyota injector EFI/TBI cleaning service
    - replace pvc valve
    - front/rear brake service ( not pads and rotors and drums) but remove parts , clean and lubricate
    - New pcv valve
    - All remaining items on a service 2

I know some will say do it yourself. For me if something goes wrong they are on the hook. Plus my Toyota platinum extended warranty is good until 200,000 km so I don’t want to mess with that coverage.

plus I’m doing oil changes now every 8,000 km instead of the 16,000 Toyota was recommending

You have to spend the $10 and get the toyota PID's. Money well spent IMO.

anyone notice in this video he said 69 inch/pounds for the torque spec on the transmission pan bolts? Thought these were to be 39 inch/pounds (about 3ft/lbs) ? And the torque for the filter bolts is 85 inch/pounds (about 7 ft/lb). Anyone ? @gearcruncher
