Just picked up a 2022 Tacoma. Do the three drain holes that are shown in the picture come from the factory? The reason I ask is because I had my truck in for a tonneau that the parts supplier couldn’t install. Want to make sure they didn’t drill anything.

Yes, it's so water can drain from the bed.

Ahhhh…..not sure how I didn’t notice that from your picture. I do have 3 drain holes in the front of the bed below the cab. Looks like you’re all good.

My '18 does, and they were plugged. I think the previous owner had a tonneau, though.

On my 2021, there are 3 drain holes at the front of the bed, and 2 more inside the storage cubby. I plugged them when I installed my camper shell (a week after I got the truck). They use standard 5/16" plugs.

(With a shell, the leaks generally come from below the bed, not from above. Therefore the drain holes are counterproductive.)

I drilled my holes out larger. They plug up too easily.

Did the exact same thing. Pine needles stopped them up instantly.

I came for an answer to this.
So my local hardware store should have a 5/16 rubber grommet of some sort that would work?

Also, my 2019 SR has square drain holes at the back of the bed, right above the wheel wells, so can imagine the amount of dust that comes up through them. I need to find some solution to plugging them up before putting a shell on also.

    Thanks for any suggestions!

Use a unibit to make them round get pugs from hardware store. Wonder who put square holes in it, and reason for it?
