I found one...Tacoma tech for 10+ years and highly recommended too. I have the 6 cly, so it will take about 4-5 hours

I don’t have any experience with Por15. I only recommended the right stuff because I had an oil pan bottom out in a road trip and did what I suggested and it didn’t leak a drop for three years. I only pulled the motor to put in a bigger motor so who knows how much longer it would have lasted.

I don’t think Bedliner would bond with the oil dripping. Paints sensitive to bonding surface.

My body man is sanding the entire outside, then epoxy, then paint...he is painting a truck today which happens to be black so I caught good luck there

Between all my OEM parts and labor to replace pan, I'm in it for $625 so far....probably another $40-$50 for the pan painting

Yeah I get you. If you have the cash your always better off having a professional install oem parts. That being said some times we don’t have the cash so not knowing your financial situation I offered a “bandaid” to get you down the road. But that’s cool man. I love my Tacoma and it’s rare that I find myself not doing the job right.

If I took this to the Toyota dealer including all OEM parts that I'm replacing, they would be at $1500+ I believe

$ is tight here, but I had to do it right the first time. No way in hell would I have put that pan on the way it was from the factory scratched either

called my toyoTech mechanic (out of curiosity) and quoted roughly $900 for this job

stinks nobody close enough to your locale (couple hundred miles) with similar truck/experience/equipment to do this in 6hrs

Yeah I hear ya. Even though it hurts the wallet initially you’re doing the right thing. Fortunately for me I come from a family of mechanics and gear heads so I haven’t paid someone to fix my shit in along time so I save money that way. That being said I have to pay others for shit I’m not good at so I spend it in other places. Yeah I don’t trust dealerships for anything. A good mechanic is a good mechanic, regardless what his/her shirt says. At the dealership the only benefit IMO is that you get the paper work and if you resell you can say it’s been handled by the dealer. Most people find that attractive

The cross thread bolts are a sign of them just hittin the bolts on with the impact gun instead of threading it in by hand 1st.

This is basically showing how to get it done - a couple diy'ers could do it in a moderately paced day.

Just dropped off my truck to my new Toyota mechanic for the oil pan swap. Told him the check to see if anything else needs replaced. I want no problems, so hopefully the only call I receive is: "your truck is all set"

it seems that in CA [LB = Long Beach?] it must be rather easy to find like-minded Tacoma owners with proper tools/experience, etc. to lend a hand make a project day
in my area, and I think OPs area, it is difficult to near impossible to find such and keep the costs relatively moderate

Bummer, move to CA and you’ll have plenty of first gen owners around. Just pay 200% more than everything is worth and you too can have this perk
