    A little of both I think. The last time I replaced it, I got the cheapest bearing I could find. It had been making some noise and was on it's way out, but I think I popped it out of the raced on a hill climb because after that my brakes got mushy which is a tell tale sign. It was okay to drive it up on the trailer, but no good for highway driving.

    Yeah, we met a new guy on the forum last week who owns a chopper shop in SA. I think we're going to do them there. If not, my next option is CS.

    Not gonna do it next month or anything, but I've been tossing around the idea of buying an Access Cab and swapping all my mods over to it. Then moving the rear axle forward and throwing a short bed on it so I still have the same wheelbase I have now.

    Thoughts?

    I think that your wheelbase it what will let you tackle trails that extracab and doublecab owners shouldnt attempt. The reg cab short bed is THE trail rig. You have enough wheel base to climb but not too much to get high centered as much.

    Plus you will not get your mileage with a 4cyl in an extracab. Thats out the window anyway if you get an extracab V-6.

    Pre installation of the RCD lift I would have said hell yeah, but you wouldn't be able to put your regular can back to stock & sell it now that we cut your cross member

    I think I could take the stock cross member off of the new truck and enough of the mounting piece to get it back to normal.

    Buying an entire new truck. I thought about the whole cab swap thing, but I think I might want the 4.0L.

    After talking to my father in law who gets 23mpg with his, I think I could manage the same.

    I've read that thread before. It's a nice looking truck.

    I'm not as interested in bobbing it as much as I want to move that rear axle forward.

    The stock Wheel Bases are as follows
    Regular Cab 110.0"
    Access/ Double Cab 127.4"
    Double Cab Long Bed 140.6"

    So, since the difference between the long and short bed is 13", I should be able to move the axle that much putting me at 114" more or less (hopefully less).

    I know that stock, the axle isn't centered in the wheel well, so I can make sure I account for that too when I move it.
