i know I'm not the only one who's been thinking about this but, has anybody ever posted a thread/video/ anything about a vertically mounted e brake handle(hydraulic or cable) on a taco?!! Just like rally drivers and such.. I have a 6 speed and I'm really itching to get one installed in my taco but, I have no clue where to start! The dash mounted "t-handle style" e brake is kinda annoying when u wanna whip side ways on a corner. I know there's ways to drift a taco with out the help of an e-brake...but I just really like the idea of a vertically mounted "drift handle" as I call it. I don't know if I should just do cables or convert to hydraulic (still have no idea where to start). I found some videos and I'll post them right below.. One is on a long travel taco (auto) and one is on a X-runner (drift car). Please share ur opinions my fellow taco people!!! Here's the videos

    http://youtu.be/3yDvjOX1KNQ
Ull see it mounted on the passenger side (green handle) & 1:02 mark in the video clip

    http://youtu.be/pzMEVwBkBPM
This ones a the x-runner... Pretty cool drift by the way

So please any infor about parts/mods or anything would help a lot thanks!!

I would assume it would be the same way as these are setup considering the only major difference, that I know of, is the trans. Everything else seems to be the same. The e-brake just locks the rear wheels. You may want to check out the xr-underground as they may have a better idea of this. They tend to be more about racing and things like that.

On a side note, why would you want to drift a tacoma? That seems pretty crazy to me. I can see the xrunner, maybe. Maybe one setup for long travel on a good day, but if yours is stock or mostly stock, why would you want to drift it?

He never was one to make it look pretty. All about function. You get the idea though.

I've installed a few in rally cars. With rear drums you would need to tap into the existing rear brake lines and connect another master inline for the handle. I would recommend not doing that, one of the major problems is it will cause a softer pedal from having to pressurize the second master.

It's really not all that hard to slide one of these trucks but, at least in mine, the traction control just comes back on when you get too much angle or too long of a slide.

To add to the pictures of the member's truck, which I posted, he eventually swapped to rear disk brakes.

If you installed rear disks you could do a pretty badass double caliper set up.
