Before I get grilled here, I DID try the search function and came up more or less empty handed...

Has anybody come up with a way to mount a front plate without drilling holes? Besides just zip ties? The reason I'm asking is I live in PA so my truck came with no front mounting holes, and Im not really keen on making any since I don't really need to run a front plate. But I just got my Delaware surf fishing permit to drive on the beaches, which is a plate that needs to be mounted on the front. And yes, it acually needs to be mounted, the rangers will bust a testicle if you just have it in your windshield. I don't really want to keep the plate on there all the time (believe it or not people actually steal these, they are expensive to buy), I just want to slap it on when I'm going down to the beach. I already stupidly tried magnets, but duh, front bumper is plastic. Anybody else have to deal with this? Suggestions?

Someone on XRU came up with something. I couldn't find a picture but he custom made a bracket to mount the plate. The bracket tied back through the lower valance so the bumper never had to be drilled. I haven't seen an off the shelf option, only custom.

Thanks. I kind of figured I'm going to have to jerry rig something. I'm thinking I might and get a bracket kit and just use the plastic backing peice, and maybe I can attach it with a really short bungee cord or something. I'm not really planning on driving on the road with it, I'm just gonna throw it on right before I get on the beach. My dad used to just zip tie his, but one time it fell off and we had to spend like half the day looking for the damn thing.

Might try using an adhesive on the back of the bumper and use rare earth magnets. Those things are pretty dang strong. Not sure I would trust them to leave a plate on all the time, but if you wanted to just stick it on there for just when your on the beach it would probably hold fine.

I have some rare earth magnets, that's what I tried earlier. You mean like use some epoxy or something and glue a metal peice on the inside of the bumper so the magets would stick to the outside?... that's not bad.

yes, you'd need to find a way to affix one magnet permanently or semi-permanently on the inside of the bumper.

Is that sold as a license plate bracket or did you rig that up yourself? Looks good!

Rigged it up myself. Four 4" straight brackets. Two L brackets. Nuts and bolts. Sandwich them on the lower grill. Voila. Custom license plate mount.

Seems like alot of work and possible damage to the top of the bumper. I wouldn't bother even putting the plate on or just install it using the mounting points... I guess I don't understand the big deal, its just a truck.

The regular mounting points require drilling into the bumper. That's a no go for me.

In states that don't require a front plate, the bumpers don't come pre drilled with mounting holes, and I don't really want to put holes in there just to have a plate on for a couple weekends during the summer. The other 99% of the time it's just gonna have the 2 holes there. This truck is brand spankin new and I paid way too much for it just to be drilling unnessesary holes.

I used 3M mounting tape and stuck it on my bumper. It's worked fine for a year.

I'd recommend putting it on the corners and top. Also, went throough an automatic car wash and it pulled up a corner once, just folded it back. No damage from what I can see.

I saw on a thread that a front plate mount from an 06 Dodge Ram works as well
