I'm looking to get some camper tie downs mounted for my truck. Two systems out there, no drill bolt on which are insanely expensive and a more economical universal belly bar type install which would involve drilling a couple holes on the frame. I would rather not do any drilling on the frame but may have to. Is this a total no no? Would this void warranty?

    Thanks

I may not be the guy to repost, I wouldn't do it as I wouldn't touch the frame especially with such a new truck.

I can't see any harm in drilling a couple of holes. Shouldn't be any problems as long as they're not huge, which I'm sure they're not. It shouldn't void anything if it's done correctly, and placement is in a reasonable area. I would try to be out into the center of the beam as much as possible and away from the edges. Make sure the hole drilled is the correct size for the fastener, and not smaller or something, that would let it wallow out the hole from movement.

Not a problem. Make sure you prime and paint where you drill.

Thanks for the responses. I was worried about rusting and what not with freshly drilled holes ( priming and painting would take care of that). I may in the end buck up for the more expensive no drill type tie downs. If my truck was already 5 years old I would probably be ok with drilling but since it's brand new with not even 1000km on it I think I will go with the no drill kind. Easier to install in the end too. Less ammo for Toyota to try and void warranty should anything come up.

    Thanks again
