Drive line noise questions

About the "non-greasable" U-joints in the driveline--I had 2 of them start making horrendous noise on my '01 2 winters ago, when temps were consistently down around 15F. After first getting past freaking out about the noise, I found that soaking specific mating areas on each U-joint with white lithium grease cures the problem for about a year. 1 10oz spray can of the stuff (Liquid Wrench brand) lasts me 2 annual sprayings. However, even with using a straw to direct the spray, it can get messy, especially without access to a lift.
