My 2007 4x4 TRD Sport has a vibration that starts at about 30mph. You hear it more than feel it. It has 130k miles and what looks like a 2 or 3 in rancho lift. and is new to me. I got it with a bad carrier bearing and therefore a great deal.

Since hearing the noise/vibration I have replaced:
Front axles/CVs - Boot was torn so it needed it anyways
    Front outer axle bearings
Drivers side needle bearing with the solid bushing
Carrier bearing and rear drive shaft

Putting it into 4x4 sometime seems to change it a little but other time it doesn't.

I thought it was in the front but it is hard to tell.

And yes I have searched and search on this and other forms and haven't come up with any other ideas.

I am looking for some help!

    Thanks!

Are there item in the rear that would cause this?

I had a similar vibration and it was related to my U-joints. Replaced the carrier bearing and all 3 U-joints...felt like a new truck again.

Also, my buddy that did the U-joints re-installed the driveshaft 180* from how it had been installed originally, and that caused a crapload of vibration. I learned that in trucks/4wd you must install the driveshaft exactly the same way you take it out. So if your U-joints are good, maybe the previous owner didnt...

I've posted this before - get your driveshaft balanced. Turned out for me to be the yoke on the driveshaft that connects to the tcase - the rest of the ds was fine. A balance will identify the issues before you start throwing money at other stuff.

And what about your tires - have you had them balanced? Could be a simple balance issue or a broken thread in the tire.

Finally some one has a sound that starts at the same speed as mine about 30mph. Most I start reading about start at a higher speed. Mine has a new shaft in the rear that came with the frame swap. I could feel a little play in my spline as it was pulled apart quite a bit for a stock shaft with about 2.5" of lift . A 3/4" Drive shaft spacer put the drive shaft together more and removed the play but not the sound. Only sound I ever heard like it was a bad front wheel bearing on my daughters 99 Cherokee XJ way back when. Mine sounds like a really bad worn super swamper going down the road but it did it on the plain tread nittos that came on it and still on my new tires. I really have not got into it yet but its getting closer to the top of my list

Yeah that sounds similar to mine. I think it's the front right. Does anyone know if it is OK the jack the rear up of the ground an drive it in place up to about 30 mph to see if there is a noise to help determine if it is in the back or front?

Tires are balanced and don't show any odd wear. Drive shaft is new and balanced.

U-joint vibration is under recall, I'd Goto dealership and complain about vibrations. Schedule appointment, bring it in. One of three things will happen.

They replace u-joints and it's fixed.

They do a free diag and come back with an estimate on what's wrong. Deny the repairs, take the estimate and then change parts yourself.

They do diag, relate vibrations to u-joints, replace them free then tell you that replacing the u-joints didn't totally fix it. The driveshaft also needs to be replaced. Inform them that recall also covers replacement of the driveshaft if vibrations were found to come from recalled u-joints, I posted docs on this before.

Anyway, first step, free diag from dealership under recall :)

Is it a deep woomp, woomp, starts at about 30mph, and gets less towards 40mph then nill?

About running wheels off the ground to test...

Use a lift, or if you have to, make SURE you have solid jack stands on 4 points on the frame wheels off the ground, DO NOT have the truck resting on a jack, Always one person in drivers seat at controls and other person monitoring outside from safe distance!

I lifted my 2011 one end at a time. Rear only it developed a light vibration from 20-45 or so. When I added the front lift a different minor vibration I can feel in the wheel around 50 but sometimes lower speed.

Conclusion is most vibrations seem to come from the drive shaft. I did a drop kit and it smoothed it out a little, sometimes I can still hear an ocilating vibration around 30-40. My driveshaft is original and the center bearing is tired. I may just grease it for now, but the real fix is to rebuild the drive shaft and check the angles.

Because you have a new drive shaft, you should check the angles and you may need to expirememt.

One place you can start is to pull out the rear driveshaft and drive in 4x4 to see if that is the cause of your issues.

I had the same thought. Just got done driving with out the driveshaft. Same noise!

I'll go drive with the back end of the ground now and give an update.

Well it makes a noise with the back on jack stands at about 30 and up. Its less noise than normal but more vibration.

I went through the same thing same speed . I give up, I hope what ever it is get worse so I can figure it out where its coming from. Inside I feel like I hear it at the rear of the cab. Wondering if rear wheel bearing or transfercase . I did the EGC bushing figuring its just a matter of time before I need it anyway but throwing away the cost of 4 wheel bearings at a guess is more work and money than this noise is going to get. I feel no vibes I mostly just hear it.

My rear bearings made that sound when they went out. Vibration/buzz that started at 35mph and wound go away at 60mph. Different sound that the front needle bearing.
