I took my truck to the dealer because I have a squeaky nice when going in reverse. There is no noise when going forward. My truck is not lifted and has not been modified.

I have been told I need a new driveshaft for 1100.

I am not a mechanic, so I am not sure if there is anything else that can be done besides replace the drive shaft. Does anyone on here have any suggestions or do I just need replace it?

    Go to a driveline shop.

They can replace just the parts that ate needed, or fab up an entire driveshaft, for less than 1100. Maybe a LOT less.

get under the truck and try to move the driveshaft around, im willing to bet its a u-joint. it would be hard to ruin a driveshaft on a stock taco, and the u-joints are made to break before the driveshaft.

if it is a driveshaft, get a tom woods one-piece drive shaft for about 450 and put it on yourself! its only 8 bolts, would take you 20 mins tops.
