Ive un bolted the drive shaft and it won't separate at the rear! The front nuts come off but the bolts won't remove from the wholes...soaking in pb blaster right now...tried smacking the rear flange with a 20 ounce hammer (wood block for protection).... nothing.

    Help?

I haven't encountered that before. You are doing what I would do. Soak with PB Blaster, then smack it. Are you in the salt belt with a lot of rust underneath? I'm in the south and mine have always come out with no problem.

Sorry I can't help. Let the PB Blaster soak good and take your time.

    Good luck!

If truck is not jacked up there could be tension pushing on the bolts.

Jacl it up but dont jack it on the axle, jacl the truck so suspension droops full down.(jack on frame until tire come off the ground) may release tension good luck

Lose the wood block, few good whacks with solid ball peen wont hurt. Just catch it when it drops

So it's just "rusted"/stuck on there with all bolts removed?

I would soak a bit, maybe soak a bit more, and then beat on it some more. Bonus points if you are already replacing your u-joints and you can jam something in there for leverage.

I am replacing the u joints. ...but leverage against the u joint with a full size crowbar is no results.

get in there with a screw driver. And tap it lightly. Then go to the other side and do the same thing.

Force will get you everywhere. Unless your yoke is bent onto the u joint, it will come off forcing it.

I would use a very large chisle and hammer and hit it HARD right at the seam between the two pieces. You may have to clean up the edges with a grinder or file after, but it will give.

And do this on alternating sides. Something has to give.

Well....when in doubt use the biggest hammer you have!....only took a 8 pound sludge with lots of swings...but it came.....now to hopefully get the rest of the job done.

Put it in 1st, rev it up to red line and dump the clutch. Or... if you have the auto, a neutral drop should do the trick.

    haha... no, don't do that.

Mostly stock with a few minor mods.
And pretty sure with the front of the driveshaft disconnected...none of that would do anything...

when I took mine off, I had the rear axle jacked up, and we took a certain sized socket, stuck it in there and hit it with a hammer....
