Hello and thank you for reading.
I have a 17 O/R auto 4x4 and have noticed a "kick" when decelerating. What seems to be happening is as I reach around 15 MPH during braking, Now that I write this I can't recall testing this without applying brakes. I feel like the transmission abruptly stops engine braking. I've never felt this before in another vehicle and do not have another tacoma to compare it to. Anyone else?

If it helps any, my M/T does pretty much the same thing. Some have stated that it's the injectors coming back online (fuel cuts off during coast down under certain circumstances).

Yanno, I have an MT so I haven't experienced this auto decelerate kick...but you mentioned engine brake. On the MT side there has been talk about engine braking while off reading downhill and the injectors kicking in at about 1200 rpm that causes a bit of ass pucker.

I think there might be a correlation here. I'll continue reading

Common complaint with seemingly know known resolution. Toyota claims it is normal. Search forum for clunk in rear and hard downshift. You'll find plenty of discussion on it

Yep, happens in the MT too. Really f'ing annoying when you are braking for a turn in 2nd or are using engine braking in slow traffic and hit that point. I believe it happens at ~1500 RPM for me.

Seriously, to passengers, the jolt makes it look like I don't know how to use the brakes.
