is it safe to drive on highway with the tonneau cover flipped back as long as you use clips? Not my truck just used as reference. 9968BF0E-3084-4B63-8B4E-350A0FDB1BA6.jpg

I've done it many times now without any problems.

Yeah I used to do it all the time before I sold mine. Just don’t ride down with the first flap flipped up only. Always use the clips. I was riding with a pressure washer one day and had the 1st flap up and it ended up catching wind and hitting the pressure washer. Cracked part of my cover

I do when i have something too tall to close the cover or want to dry out the bed (after washing or a big storm). My BAKFlip MX4 (hard cover) has clips for securing when opened.

I've had two bakflips, the tri-fold mx-4 and now the roll up something 4. I ride with them up all the time. Just clip them in so they stay and get to it. I've also done it a handful of times without using the clips if items I am transporting will keep it in place or if there is ice frozen in them and I can't. I find the tri-fold will stay put even without the clips.

The whole point of a tonneau is to cover it, but to also be able to use the bed to haul stuff if needed (at least the folding ones are) so this is within it's designed usage I would think.

Cool thanks for replies. I bought a ladder from HD and took back roads because I wasn’t sure if clips would hold going 75mph on highway.
